Long Fuel Queue Residents, North Sumatra Police Deploy 786 Personnel to Secure Gas Stations
Medan - The North Sumatra Regional Police involved 786 personnel to secure a number of public fuel filling stations (SPBU) to ensure the supply of fuel to the public runs safely and smoothly.
"We involve 786 personnel for 24-hour security in turn at 325 gas stations," said Head of the North Sumatra Regional Police Operations Bureau, Commissioner General of Police Dwi Tunggal Jaladri in Medan, Thursday, July 16.
Dwi said that hundreds of the secured gas stations were spread across a number of areas, including Medan City, Binjai City, Tebing Tinggi City, and Deli Serdang Regency.
He said that the security activities followed up on the results of a coordination meeting attended by the North Sumatra Provincial Industry and Trade Office, Pertamina Patra Niaga Regional Sumbagut, and the resort police (polres).
"From the results of the coordination meeting, there was a termination of work from Pertamina, especially for the tanker crew," he said.
From the lack of tanker car crew (AMT), TNI and Polri personnel who have the ability to qualify to drive tanker cars and have been trained to assist Pertamina.
"We are committed to filling the AMT shortage with personnel. From Pertamina there is also a replacement, and we offer gas station owners and Pertamina to avoid the occurrence of travel storage," he said.
Separately, the Head of the Pelabuhan Belawan Police, Kompol Dedy Dharma, said his party had deployed personnel to escort the fleet of fuel carriers from Pertamina to the gas stations that were the distribution destinations.
"The escort was carried out in order to accelerate the distribution of fuel to the public," he said.
He hopes that the presence of the police personnel in the field can ensure that the distribution of fuel runs safely, smoothly, and without obstacles.
The acceleration of fuel distribution is a step taken to anticipate long queues at gas stations, and to ensure that fuel availability is maintained in the legal area of the Belawan Port Police.
