"The Batman 2" Postponed to 2028, Director Shows Robert Pattinson's Latest Look

JAKARTA - The screening of the sequel to the film The Batman titled The Batman Part II has been postponed once. Warner Bros. originally put October 1, 2027 as the release date, which has now changed to February 18, 2028.

With its new date, this sequel will be six years after the first film premiered in March 2022. Director Matt Reeves, who worked on the film, also announced the new date along with a video.

The video released features actor Robert Pattinson as the Dark Knight in his first video while playing the character. This video was released exclusively through a video sharing service called Vimeo.

In addition to Pattinson, the Batman sequel will be played by Scarlett Johansson, Sebastian Stan, as well as Charles Dance, Brian Tyree Henry and Sebastian Koch. The script was written by Reeves with Mattson Tomlin.

Until now, the main plot is still a secret as well as the roles that will be played by the supporting characters.

Previously, James Gunn as the head of DC Studios explained that a five-year gap between a film is a normal practice for a major film franchise. The first Batman Part II was announced to be released on October 2, 2026, changed to October 1, 2027, and now changed to 2028.

"To be fair, a five-year gap is a normal time for a sequel. 7 years between 'Alien' and 'Aliens'. 14 years between 'Incredibles.' 7 years between the two 'Terminators' films. 13 years between 'Avatars.' 36 years between 'Top Guns.' And, of course, six years between 'Guardians Vol 2' and 'Vol 3.'" wrote Matt Reeves.

In addition to The Batman, Warner Bros. also changed several release dates such as J.J. Abrams' The Great Beyond to October 1, 2027 and Panic Carefully to April 9, 2027.

On the other hand, currently, Robert Pattinson is promoting his latest film, The Odyssey.
