Minister Dody Denies Mutating Employees Related to Viral Government Letter to the US

JAKARTA - Minister of Public Works (PU) Dody Hanggodo denied the news linking the mutation of PU Ministry employees to the controversy over his ministry's travel letter to the United States (US) which had gone viral on social media. According to Dody, mutation is part of the dynamics of the organization and has no connection with the issue.

Dody admitted that there were indeed mutations of officials in the PU Ministry environment. However, he emphasized that the narrative that said the mutation was carried out as an impact of the leak of the official travel letter to the United States was not true.

"There is none," Dody said at the Presidential Palace, Jakarta, Wednesday, July 15 evening.

According to Dody, the rotation and mutation of employees is a common thing in an organization as large as the PU Ministry which has tens of thousands of apparatuses.

"Mutations are common. My employee alone is 38,600, so why can't I mutate?" said Dody.

Previously, there was a narrative on social media that said Minister PU Dody Hanggodo had carried out mutations and demotions of hundreds of employees during his leadership. The information was then linked to the controversy over the official travel letter to New York which had become a public concern.

One of the uploads on the X platform said that as many as 114 employees had been mutated or demoted since Dody served as PU minister.

"(A total of) 114 employees who were affected by demotions during Minister PU Dody Hanggodo's tenure from October 2024 to June 2026," wrote the X account @hotnews
