Social Minister Risma Affirms Not Voting In Providing Disaster Aid

JAKARTA - Social Minister Tri Rismaharini emphasized that he has never been picky about certain parties in the distribution of disaster aid and there is no obligation to hand it over to certain parties.

For Risma, disaster assistance can be given to the party most likely to distribute aid so that it is fast and on target.

“Disaster assistance can come through anyone. It could be the police chief, it could be the military commander, it could be a public kitchen. Anyone. The important thing is that the receipt is clear. In Subang, I gave the Kapolsek because he built a public kitchen," Risma said in a statement in Jakarta, reported by Antara, Friday, June 11.

Risma said the speed of distribution of disaster logistics assistance to disaster survivors is an important priority. This is because the disaster conditions make the survivors experience all the limitations, the need to get logistical assistance.

That is the reason, the Minister of Social Affairs is not picky about who should receive disaster assistance from the Ministry of Social Affairs. This is based on the consideration, so that disaster-affected communities can immediately fulfill their basic needs.

"For me it doesn't matter. The important thing is that people don't go hungry," he said.

This was also done by Risma when distributing aid to refugees in East Nusa Tenggara (NTT), including Alor Regency. On several occasions, Risma explained her efforts to reach Alor Regency, which was one of the targets of Cyclone Seroja's rampage.

Risma really understands the needs of the Alor community for government logistical assistance. He has worked hard to ensure that aid for disaster victims is received by the community as quickly as possible.

Risma said that her arrival in Adonara, which was not three days after the disaster, had been greeted with emotional reactions from the community. "Well, it's been more than three days in Alor. But indeed my ship cannot dock," he said.

With the same consideration, he decided to fly the aid from Surabaya. "Because from Jakarta it will take longer," he continued.

However, arriving at the disaster site, the problem is not as easy as imagined, because the impact of Cyclone Seroja has not completely subsided so that the port authority has not allowed any shipping activities.

Risma then welcomed assistance from Alor Regency DPRD officials who helped distribute aid to disaster survivors.
