Scopus Q1 Publication of UNM Students Strengthens Global Competitive AI Research Ecosystem
JAKARTA - Nusa Mandiri University has added international achievements through the scientific publication of students of the Master of Informatics Program in a Scopus Quartile 1 (Q1) indexed journal, one of the highest categories in international journal rankings.
Master of Informatics student, Nasir Hamzah, published an article entitled Attention-Based Explainability for Cross-Lingual Neural Information Retrieval in Low-Resource Languages which raised the development of a cross-language information retrieval system for languages with limited digital resources.
The research utilizes an attention mechanism to improve the aspect of explainability in artificial intelligence models. This approach is considered strategic because it supports the development of AI technology that is more transparent, inclusive, and accountable.
UNM Marketing and Communication Coordinator Wawan Kurniawan said the publication in the Scopus Q1 journal reflects the strengthening of the culture of research and innovation in the campus environment.
"This shows that students at Nusa Mandiri University are able to produce research that is relevant to global technological developments and make a real contribution to the advancement of science," he said.
According to him, UNM continues to strengthen the research ecosystem through faculty support, adaptive curriculum, and academic collaboration to increase the number of international publications.
This achievement is expected to be a catalyst for the development of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Explainable AI (XAI) research in Indonesia, as well as strengthening the position of the UNM Informatics Master's Program in the map of information technology and artificial intelligence research at the global level.
