Indonesia Gets One Gold and One Silver at the 2026 Asian Boxing Championship

JAKARTA - Indonesia managed to win one gold medal and one silver medal at the 2026 Asian Boxing U-19 & U-23 Championships. This result is a positive signal for the revival of Indonesian boxing towards multi-sport events at the international level.

The gold medal was presented by Anggi Intania Chalik after appearing dominant in the final match for the U-19 women's light flyweight (45-48 kg) by defeating the Indian representative, Gunjan. Meanwhile, one silver medal was won by Dira Artika from the U-19 women's featherweight (54-57 kg).

Anggi said that his success in winning the gold medal was the result of hard work during training and the support of the coaches. The young boxer, the mainstay of Indonesia, also emphasized that this gold medal was not the ultimate goal.

"All coaches know how I struggled to get this result, but in the end I left everything to God. My hope is to follow in the footsteps of my seniors and one day perform at the Olympics," said Anggi in an official statement.

The Chairman of the Indonesian Olympic Committee (NOC Indonesia), Raja Sapta Oktohari, appreciated the successful organization of the championship and the achievements of Indonesian boxers. He said that the achievement was the beginning of the national boxing revival.

"The organization was extraordinary and managed to produce a proud achievement. This is the forerunner of the birth of subsequent achievements," said Okto, the nickname of Raja Sapta Oktohari.

This achievement is an important achievement of the Indonesian Amateur Boxing Association Central Executive or the Indonesian Boxing General Manager (PP Perbati).

Okto said that this result is an important momentum because Indonesia will face a number of major international sports agendas in the next few years, the nearest being the 2026 Asian Games in Japan in September-October 2026.

"We hope that boxing will again become one of the sports that contribute to the pride of Indonesia. In the past, we had a hard time getting achievements and now slowly Indonesian boxing is starting to rise," he said.

The Chairman of the PP Perbati, Ray Zulham, emphasized that what Indonesia obtained in this championship showed the foundation of coaching that began to be formed even though the process of regenerating athletes still had to continue.

"Our preparations for the U-19 and U-23 are not yet fully ideal because this management is still new. However, this result is an evaluation and motivation to strengthen the age group's coaching," said Ray.
