Jordi Amat's spirit in the second experience welcomes the 2026 ASEAN Championship

JAKARTA - Persija Jakarta defender Jordi Amat is excited to undergo the Indonesian National Team's training camp in Bali. This agenda is a preparation for the 2026 ASEAN Championship (AFF Cup 2026) which is also the second time for Jordi Amat to be trusted to be involved in it.

In the 2026 edition, the ASEAN Championship will start from July 24 to August 26, 2026. For Jordi, this is his second experience after being involved in the 2022 edition, which at that time the Indonesian National Team stopped in the semifinals.

"Now, we have a few weeks to make sure that we are ready for the tournament (ASEAN Championship). We are very excited to start this new challenge," said Jordi, quoted from the Indonesian National Team's YouTube broadcast, Wednesday, July 15, 2026.

The focus of training in Bali is the first stage agenda held by head coach John Herdman. Jordi is one of the 50 names called in the selection process this time.

Having the opportunity to attend training under the direction of John Herdman, Jordi Amat admitted that he was very happy.

"I think this was a really good week. We worked really hard. Today we finished it with a trial match. I'm really proud of the performance we've done," said Jordi.

Herdman, who led the first phase of training in Bali for a week, also expressed satisfaction. According to him, the most important thing he saw in this training camp was the character, about how the players behave when they are physically, mentally, and emotionally tired.

"They have been training every day this week. We got through it. However, today is important. They have to give their best. I have a difficult decision. I can only take 23 players," said Herdman.

In the 2026 ASEAN Championship, the Indonesian National Team is in Group A with Vietnam, Timor Leste, Singapore, and Cambodia. Later, all home matches in the group stage will be held at Pakansari Stadium, Bogor.

The first agenda will be passed by the Indonesian National Team by hosting Cambodia on July 27, 2026 and Vietnam on August 3, 2026. The other two matches from Indonesia were held away from home when they played against Timor Leste on July 31, 2026 and Singapore on August 7, 2026.
