The number of victims of the pub fire in Bangkok increased to 32 people
JAKARTA - The number of deaths due to a fire that occurred at a pub in Bangkok has increased to 32 people.
"Two more people, who were previously in critical condition due to injuries suffered in the fire, died in hospital. Thus, the number of deaths now stands at 32 people, while 73 others were injured, 15 of whom are still in serious or critical condition," said the Chatuchak District authorities, Bangkok, Wednesday, July 15, as reported by ANTARA from Sputnik.
Chatuchak District authorities also said 38 people, who had previously been hospitalized for minor injuries, had been allowed to go home.
Previously, media reported that the death toll reached 30 people with 75 others injured in a fire incident in Chatuchak.
The fire occurred at the Rong Beer Na Lat Phrao pub, which is in Chatuchak District, Bangkok, Sunday night (12/7).
The fire quickly engulfed the entire one-story building until it was burned. Firefighters arrived at the scene and began extinguishing it within seven minutes after the fire occurred.
Based on the initial findings of the police investigation, which was announced on Tuesday (14/7), the fire was allegedly caused by an electrical short circuit in the air conditioning unit installed in the ceiling of the stage where the musicians performed.
The fire is suspected to have quickly spread due to the use of flammable materials on the soundproofing system when the building was converted into a restaurant with live music performances.
