FIFA To Immediately Process Ezra Walian Federation Status Transfer Documents, From KNVB To PSSI

JAKARTA - PSSI stated that FIFA will immediately process the document over the status of naturalized player Ezra Walian so that the Persib Bandung club player can strengthen the Indonesian national team in FIFA official matches or tournaments.

Quoted from the official PSSI website, Friday, PSSI Secretary General Yunus Nusi said that FIFA's statement was made in a reply letter to PSSI.

"On Friday (11/6) we received a letter from FIFA signed by the Head of Players Status FIFA, Erika Montemor Ferreira," said Yunus.

PSSI, the man from Gorontalo continued, had previously sent various documents and documents requested by FIFA including the birth certificates of Ezra's parents.

Yunus Nusi ensured that his party continued to communicate with FIFA and the Dutch Football Federation (KNVB) regarding Ezra's status.

PSSI also hopes for cooperation from all parties, especially Ezra and his family so that the issue will be resolved soon.

"We hope that Ezra and his family will also support PSSI's steps and continue to be committed to the Indonesian national team," said Yunus.

Ezra Walian himself was naturalized from a Dutch citizen to Indonesian in 2017.

However, since 2019, the 23-year-old footballer has been unable to compete in tournaments or AFC/FIFA matches because FIFA considers the transition of Ezra's federation, from KNVB to PSSI, not yet complete.

Ezra was previously listed as a player for the Dutch U-15, U-16 and U-17 national teams.

The son of a Manado-blooded man, Glenn Walian (who was naturalized with Ezra in 2017) briefly played in the U-17 European Cup Qualification with the Dutch U-17 national team.
