7 Iranian Military Personnel Killed in US Attack on Bampur
JAKARTA - A total of seven Iranian military personnel were killed in a US attack targeting a military base in the city of Bampur, southeast of the country.
"Seven personnel - both active and military members - from the Iranian Army were killed in Bampur," said the Iranian military statement, quoted by the Iranian state news agency IRNA, reported by CNN, Wednesday, July 15.
IRNA reported that a number of other personnel were injured as a result of the attack and are currently undergoing medical treatment.
The US attack targeted barracks, accommodation facilities, guard posts, and a guest house at the military base, IRNA reported.
Several explosions were heard in Bampur around midnight local time, according to Iran's semi-official news agency, Fars News Agency. The US Central Command (US Central Command) stated that it hit "dozens of military targets" in the latest series of attacks that lasted seven hours.
