European Commission President Arrives in Kyiv, Carrying Ukraine's Defense Industry Initiative

JAKARTA - European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen arrived in Kyiv, and announced a new initiative to integrate the EU and Ukrainian defense industries.

"I have just arrived in Kyiv for my 11th visit to Ukraine in wartime... I will announce a new initiative to integrate our defense industry. That way, we can produce more, and faster," he said on X, as reported by ANTARA from X, Wednesday, July 15.

The agenda of the negotiations also includes the accession of Ukraine to the European Union and preparations for this winter.

Russia has repeatedly stated that the supply of weapons to Ukraine hinders efforts to reach a peaceful settlement and makes NATO allies directly involved in the armed conflict.

Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said any shipment of weapons to Ukraine would be a legitimate target for Russia.
