Government Continues to Protect MSMEs and Domestic Products

Jakarta - The government insists that it will continue to strive to protect MSMEs and domestic products through the latest regulations on the management of the electronic commerce (e-commerce) ecosystem through the issuance of the Regulation of the Minister of Trade (Permendag) Number 19 of 2026.

This was conveyed by the Deputy for Partnerships and Media Relations of the Government Communication Agency (Bakom RI) Kurnia Ramadhana in Jakarta, Wednesday, July 15.

In the rules released last month, the government requires online traders who sell goods in the marketplace to have a Business Identification Number (NIB). In addition, the marketplace platform is also required to provide facilities that connect traders directly with the Online Single Submission (OSS) system to facilitate the process of issuing NIB.

The rules also require the marketplace platform to provide transparency regarding the imposition of service fees and promotional policies. Another important point is to encourage traders to prioritize the sale of domestic products.
