Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Wafat, Prabowo President Expresses Deep Sorrow

JAKARTA - President Prabowo Subianto expressed his deep condolences for the death of Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, Emir of Qatar from 1995 to 2013. The grief was conveyed directly by the President when filling out and signing the Book of Condolence (book of condolences) at the Embassy of the State of Qatar, Jakarta, on Wednesday (15/7/2026).

President Prabowo arrived at the Qatari Embassy at around 12.40 WIB. The Head of State's arrival was greeted directly by Foreign Minister Sugiono and the Ambassador of the State of Qatar to the Republic of Indonesia, Sultan bin Mubarak Saad Al-Dosari.

After the greeting, President Prabowo immediately headed to the condolence book filling room. In his written message, he conveyed the deep prayers and sense of loss from all Indonesian people.

"On behalf of the people and the government of the Republic of Indonesia, I convey our deepest condolences for the death of His Majesty Father Amir Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani. May Allah SWT the Almighty place him in the best place before God," wrote President Prabowo.

The presence of the number one person in Indonesia is a form of high respect for the Indonesian nation for the dedication of the late Sheikh Hamad during his life. This moment also reflects the close diplomatic relations and long-term friendship that has been established between Indonesia and Qatar.

For information, Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani is reported to have died on Sunday (12/7/2026) at the age of 74. After leading Qatar in the period 1995-2013, the leadership throne was continued by his son who is now serving as the Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani.
