The improvement of Kebon Sirih Road is targeted to be completed in September, motorists are asked to anticipate the narrowing of the lane.
JAKARTA - The DKI Jakarta Provincial Road Development Agency is carrying out asphalt repairs on Jalan Kebon Sirih, Central Jakarta. The road improvement work is targeted to be completed in September 2026.
During the construction process, motorists are asked to anticipate road narrowing because the work is carried out gradually in each lane.
"The road improvement work on Jalan Kebon Sirih is carried out along 345 meters, starting from Wisma Penta to the BNPP RI Building. This activity is targeted to be completed in September 2026," said Head of the Data and Information Center (Pusdatin) of the DKI Jakarta Transportation Office, Siti Dinarwenny in her statement, Wednesday, July 15.
Wenny explained that the method of work was carried out by gradually paving the road from one lane to another so that traffic flow could still run even though there was a reduction in road space.
"To maintain the smooth flow of traffic, this work is carried out gradually lane by lane through the road concreting method. During the process, there will be a temporary road narrowing during the work," he said.
The improvement of Jalan Kebon Sirih is one of the efforts to improve road infrastructure in the central area of the capital city which has had a fairly high vehicle mobility. Therefore, the construction is carried out gradually so that the impact on traffic can be minimized.
The Department of Road Construction hopes that the work will improve the quality of the road while providing comfort and safety for road users.
"With the improvement of the road on Jalan Kebon Sirih, it is hoped that it will improve the quality of road infrastructure, strengthen the aspects of safety and comfort for all road users, and create a more orderly, neat, and sustainable road space," said Wenny.
He added that the improvement of the road is also expected to support community activities and economic activities around the Kebon Sirih area.
"In addition to supporting the smooth mobility of the community, this road improvement is also expected to improve the quality of the area and provide added value for social and economic activities in the surrounding area," he said.
Before the work began, the Road Construction Service had held a socialization on Monday, July 6, 2026. The activity was attended by representatives of the community, business actors, and related local government units to convey the stages of work and traffic arrangements during the construction process.
