Huawei Comeback, HarmonyOS Has Reached 10 Million Users In China

JAKARTA – The operating system made by Huawei, HarmonyOS 2.0 seems to be reaping success in its home country, China. Currently HarmonyOS 2.0 is rumored to already have more than 10 million users.

Based on the GSM Arena report on Thursday, June 10, Huawei decided to celebrate this achievement with a cake that has a unique appearance, namely smartwatches, earbuds, smartphones and mini-sized TWS TVs made of cake.

The homemade operating system is used by millions of people in the Bamboo Curtain country. Even though it was only launched some time ago, it didn't take long for Huawei to gain millions of HarmonyOS users.

That means there are already 10 million more active devices running HarmonyOS 2.0 which is used by many people. HarmonyOS is not only run on mobile devices but is also used in various other devices.

Currently, the latest HarmonyOS 2 update is available for a number of devices such as the Mate 40, Mate 30, and MatePad Pro series. However, the operating system update is only available for Huawei users in China. Meanwhile, the P30, Honor 30 and V30 series will get a beta version update in July.

Previously, the United States had blacklisted Huawei because it was considered a threat to national security. Therefore, the Chinese technology giant cannot carry out its business activities in a global environment. A number of US tech giants have been barred from selling their component supplies to Huawei.

Although US sanctions on Huawei have not been lifted. Huawei is trying to rise from adversity by shifting its business direction to software. They designed their own operating system to reduce dependence on US tech giants such as Google Android.

Huawei is reportedly targeting as many as 360 million active devices running HarmonyOS by the end of 2021. The company is also working on collaborating with 1.2 million developers.
