BAKTI Simplifies Terms Of Cellular Operators To Build 4G BTS In The 3T Region
JAKARTA - The Ministry of Communication and Information (Kemenkominfo) together with the Telecommunications and Information Accessibility Agency (BAKTI) will build a 4G network Base Transciever Station (BTS) for 7,904 villages and sub-districts in the 3T (Front, Remote and Disadvantaged) area.
It aims to narrow the gap in internet and telecommunication connectivity in big cities. The distribution of development sites is divided into 5 packages consisting of 9 areas, including the Papua and West Papua regions.
This step is also supported by Joint Operations (KSO) with Indonesian cellular operators. There are several conditions that must be met by cellular operators to become BAKTI Kominfo partners in providing 4G networks in the 3T area.
"So in addition to administrative requirements, of course there are financial requirements and also the ability to implement them, there are also technical requirements, such as the core network they provide," said BAKTI Infrastructure Director Dhia Anugrah Febriansa, in a Webinar on the Implementation of Cellular Services at 4G BTS in the 3T Region. in the context of Digital Transformation, Friday 11 June.
There is also a business requirement, in which cellular operators can rent BTS towers that have been built for telecommunications network slots. Considering that this cooperation model can ease operators in the construction of tower infrastructure.
"Because BAKTI as the Public Service Agency (BLU) conducts KSO, so what is called rental and sharing is one of the business cooperation models that we will include as a condition," Dhia added.
As is known, the determination of the KSO is part of the task of BAKTI Kominfo, ensuring the rights of the Indonesian people to get quality, affordable, and guaranteed services. BAKTI Kominfo must also ensure that no one is left behind when the digital transformation process takes place in the country.
In addition, BAKTI Kominfo will also implement an accountable and transparent selection mechanism. Including being responsible for maintaining 4G BTS infrastructure.
"So if you don't miss the schedule, at the end of July we will end the selection process or in August at the latest, because it is hoped that by the end of 2021, there will be infrastructure that has been completed so that operators can immediately operate it to provide services immediately," said Dhia. .
