Gowa Regent Walk Out When Clarified about Alleged Corruption of Uniforms to Scholarships

MAKASSAR - Gowa Regent Sitti Husniah Talenrang chose to walk out or leave the Gowa DPRD Inquiry Rights Special Committee (Pansus) hearing which discussed alleged corruption, the revocation of scholarships, and alleged gross violations during his leadership.

Sitti Husniah fulfilled the call of the sub-committee at the Gowa DPRD Office, South Sulawesi, Tuesday, July 14, at around 10.05 WITA. He was accompanied by his lawyer, Arie Dumais, and his team.

"I respect the duties and functions of the Gowa DPRD, especially the Gowa DPRD Hak Angket Committee, so I accepted the invitation as a suspect," said Husniah, quoted by Antara.

The trial was chaired by the Chairman of the Gowa DPRD Inquiry Committee, Kasim Sila. Before the examination began, Husniah first took an oath as the party who was asked for information.

Entering the examination session, Husniah asked that all members of the sub-committee submit questions simultaneously so that they can be answered at once.

"With the permission of the leadership, I ask all members of the sub-committee to submit their questions collectively to me and I will give a complete answer," he said.

However, the request was rejected by the Chairman of the Sub-Committee. Kasim Sila emphasized that the mechanism of the trial had been agreed upon previously, namely each member of the sub-committee asked questions in turn and answered one by one.

"So that it is more effective, each question is answered one by one per member of the sub-committee so that it is more detailed and complete," said Kasim.

After the three members of the permanent panel asked questions in turn, Husniah decided to stop participating in the trial. He assessed that his right as a party to be examined to provide a comprehensive answer was not accommodated.

"I apologize to the leadership, because my rights were not fulfilled, so allow me as a suspect to leave this courtroom. I have fulfilled the call of the pan-committee as a form of appreciation for the DPRD," he said before leaving the courtroom.

The decision of the Regent of Gowa to leave the trial made the clarification process not continue. The Gowa DPRD Hak Angket Committee previously scheduled an examination of Husniah to ask for an explanation regarding the three objects of the angket rights, namely the alleged corruption in the procurement of free school uniforms, the alleged revocation of the S3 Risqila Amran scholarship, and the alleged disgraceful acts directed at the Regent of Gowa.
