Claim Internal-External Support, Nurdiansyah Alasta Waiting for AHY's Blessing to Lead Aceh Democrats
JAKARTA - The Treasurer of the Aceh Democratic Party DPD, who is also the Chairman of the Aceh DPR Commission IV (DPRA), Nurdiansyah Alasta, stated that he was ready to run as a candidate for the Chairman of the Aceh Democratic Party DPD at the Regional Conference (Musda) which is scheduled to take place in August.
Nurdiansyah said the decision was taken after receiving support from both internal and external Democratic Party.
In his written statement, Nurdiansyah said that he came from a family that had long been active in the Democratic Party. His father, the late H. Jamidin Hamdani, had served as the Chairman of the Southeast Aceh Democratic Party DPC for the period 2002-2017 as well as a member of the Aceh DPR.
"I resign from the Civil Servant to run for the Aceh DPR candidate in the 2019 Election with the intention of continuing the struggle and ideals of parents who love Pak SBY and the Democratic Party," said Nurdiansyah in a written statement received in Jakarta, Tuesday, July 14.
He claimed to have bagged support from various internal party elements. The support, among others, is said to come from 18 of the 23 Democratic Party DPC Chairmen throughout Aceh.
In addition, Nurdiansyah said he received support from the Democratic Party's wings in Aceh, namely the Indonesian Democratic Motor Association (IMDI) and the Indonesian Young Star (BMI).
Outside the party, he also claimed to have moral support from a number of Acehnese figures, including Aceh Governor Muzakir Manaf, Aceh DPR Chairman Zulfadhli, and the Grand Imam of the Baiturrahman Grand Mosque Abu Paya Pasi.
"This internal support and community leaders have the same spirit, namely togetherness in raising the party and building Aceh in the future," he said.
Nurdiansyah is expected to compete with other candidates at the Musda Demokrat Aceh, namely the Mayor of Lhokseumawe Sayuti Abu Bakar.
If he is trusted to lead the Aceh Democratic Party DPD, Nurdiansyah conveyed five commitments that will be carried out. These commitments include readiness to become candidates for members of the Indonesian House of Representatives in the 2029 Election in accordance with the party's assignment, building at least three DPC offices belonging to the Democratic Party, targeting a minimum of two seats in the Indonesian House of Representatives from Aceh in the 2029 Election, streamlining the party's structure from the branch child level to the DPD, and submitting periodic reports to the DPP and ready to be evaluated.
He emphasized that the entire process of determining the Chairman of the Aceh Democratic Party DPD was the authority of the Central Leadership Council (DPP) of the Democratic Party under the leadership of General Chairman Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono (AHY).
"I am here with full respect, ready to follow all the party mechanisms, and accept whatever the best decision is that will be determined by the Ketum AHY. For me, the most important thing is to maintain unity, the dignity of the party, and the spirit of dedication to the Democratic Party," he said.
The Musda DPD of the Aceh Democratic Party is expected to be one of the important agendas of the party ahead of the 2029 Election, considering that Aceh is one of the regions targeted to increase the acquisition of seats in the Indonesian House of Representatives.
