JPO Tendean Hit by Crane Truck, Dishub Deploys 30 Personnel to Arrange Traffic
JAKARTA - The DKI Jakarta Transportation Office (Dishub) deployed 30 personnel to manage traffic following the incident of a crane-carrying truck crashing into the Pedestrian Crossing Bridge (JPO) on Jalan Kapten Tendean, Mampang Prapatan, South Jakarta. Damage to the bridge structure made the JPO decided to be dismantled.
Head of the South Jakarta Transportation Office, Bernad Octavianus Pasaribu, said dozens of officers were on alert at four points, namely the scene, the Mampang underpass, the Mampang flyover, and the Santa Market Traffic Light. The arrangement was made to anticipate traffic congestion during the evacuation process and the demolition of the JPO.
"We continue to coordinate with the Road Construction Office and the South Jakarta Metro Police Traffic Unit for handling at the location. Dishub has mitigated four traffic control points, namely at the Mampang descent, Mampang flyover, the location of the incident, and the Santa Market Traffic Light. Traffic engineering will be implemented when heavy vehicles begin to carry out the process of evacuation and demolition of JPO," said Bernad at the location, Tuesday, July 14.
Currently, vehicle traffic from Mampang to Blok M is slowing down due to the handling process at the location. The flow diversion will be implemented on a situational basis when heavy equipment begins to work to dismantle the JPO construction.
Head of the South Jakarta Road Development Sub-Office, Rifki Rismal, said the assessment results showed that the JPO structure had suffered severe damage to the foundation of the pillar so that it was no longer safe to maintain.
"The demolition will be carried out after the morning rush hour ends with traffic arrangements with the Transportation Service and the Police," said Rifki.
Meanwhile, South Jakarta Metro Police Chief Inspector General Mujiyanto confirmed that there were no casualties in the incident. The police, together with Dishub and the Bina Marga Service, will carry out traffic engineering during the evacuation process.
"In this incident, there were no casualties. During the evacuation and demolition process, traffic diversion will be carried out so that the handling runs safely," said Mujiyanto.
The public is urged to temporarily avoid Jalan Kapten Tendean and use alternative routes through Jalan HR Rasuna Said, Jalan Gatot Subroto, Jalan Kemang Raya, or Jalan Antasari until the demolition of the JPO is completed.
