PEKA Program Equips Next of Kin to Become Entrepreneurs
BPJS Employment continues to strengthen protection for workers by ensuring that social security benefits do not stop at the submission of compensation.
Through the Economic Empowerment and Independence Program (PEKA), the heirs of the beneficiaries are encouraged to be productive again through entrepreneurship training and business assistance.
This commitment is realized through cross-sector collaboration with Bank Mandiri through Rumah BUMN, the Financial Services Authority (OJK), and the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government through the Industry, Trade, Cooperatives, Small and Medium Enterprises (PPKUKM) Office.
The PEKA program was held at Graha BPJamsostek, Jakarta, Monday, July 13, attended by the Deputy Governor of DKI Jakarta Rano Karno and was attended by 90 participants.
Through this collaboration, participants receive training ranging from entrepreneurship training, financial management, product quality improvement, packaging, marketing digitization to expanding market access.
BUMN houses play a role as a training center for MSMEs, while OJK strengthens financial literacy so that participants are able to manage their businesses sustainably.
Nationally, the PEKA Program has been attended by 908 participants. Meanwhile, in the DKI Jakarta region, the number of participants reached 299 people.
This program continues to be expanded so that the benefits of social security are not only compensation, but also become capital to build family economic independence.
BPJS Employment President Director Saiful Hidayat said the PEKA Program is a form of BPJS Employment's commitment to providing sustainable service value for beneficiaries.
"We want to ensure that they not only receive compensation, but also acquire skills, knowledge, and assistance so that they can live better and be productive again," said Saiful in an official statement, Tuesday, July 14.
Saiful revealed that as of June 30, 2026, BPJS Employment had paid benefits for claims nationwide for 2,688,827 cases with a total of Rp. 36.09 trillion. Specifically in DKI Jakarta, the benefits paid reached 385,707 cases worth Rp. 6.69 trillion.
According to Saiful, the benefits must be able to become the initial capital for the recipient's family to build a sustainable business.
"The success of the PEKA Program is not measured by the number of trainings provided, but by the increasing number of worker families who have regained income, are able to develop their businesses, and live independently," he said.
Although the regulation of the BPJS Employment task is completed after the benefits are handed over to participants or heirs, Saiful emphasized that his party has a moral responsibility to help the beneficiary's family so that they can rise and restart the family's economic wheel.
The PEKA program itself was developed through the 3P concept, namely Training, Productive, and Profit, so that participants not only acquire skills, but are also accompanied until their business grows and generates sustainable income.
Deputy Governor of DKI Jakarta Rano Karno appreciates the initiative of BPJS Employment. According to him, the PEKA Program provides added value by turning benefits into productive business capital.
"The compensation provided is of great value, but without assistance it can be exhausted in a short time. The PEKA program turns compensation into capital to build a business so that the beneficiary families have the opportunity to rise and be independent," said Rano.
Head of the BPJS Employment Branch Office of the BPJamsostek Plaza, Ramdani, said the PEKA Program was a manifestation of the commitment of BPJS Employment in ensuring that social security benefits really have a long-term impact on participant families.
According to Ramdani, the PEKA Program is proof that the protection provided by BPJS Employment does not stop at the submission of compensation.
"We want the heirs to have the knowledge, skills, and confidence to build a sustainable business so that they can create new sources of income for their families," said Ramdani.
Through collaboration with various partners, Ramdani hopes that more and more families of workers' heirs will be independent and prosperous.
He ensured that the BPJamsostek Plaza Branch Office would continue to encourage beneficiaries to participate in the PEKA Program, as well as utilize all the assistance provided so that the benefits received can develop into productive businesses.
