JPO Captain Tendean Rusak Hit by Crane Truck, Lalin Stuck
JAKARTA - The pedestrian bridge (JPO) on Jalan Raya Kapten Tendean, Mampang Prapatan, South Jakarta, was damaged after being hit by a crane-carrying truck on Tuesday, July 14, at around 00.30 WIB.
Head of the DKI Jakarta BPBD, Marulitua Sijabat, said the accident started when the truck with the police number B 9077 UFU passed on Jalan Raya Kapten Tendean.
The load of the crane carried by the vehicle hit the bottom of the JPO, resulting in damage to the construction of the bridge. The incident had an impact on the traffic jam on Jalan Bangka.
"The driver saw that there was a JPO, but without realizing it the driver was focused on the cellphone. As a result, because he did not take into account the maximum height of the load, the unit being transported was a JPO," Marulitua told reporters, Tuesday, July 14.
The collision caused the condition of the JPO to be quite damaged. Even so, BPBD ensured that there were no casualties or injuries in the incident.
Head of the DKI Jakarta Transportation Office (Dishub) Budi Awaluddin said the impact of the JPO damage made vehicle traffic on Jalan Raya Kapten Tendean towards Jalan Bangka, specifically in front of the Teraz Tree Hotel, slowed down.
Until now, the joint officers are still handling the location to secure the area and disperse traffic density.
"The public is urged to avoid Jalan Raya Kapten Tendean and use alternative roads, namely Jalan HR Rasuna Said, Jalan Gatot Subroto, Jalan Kemang Raya, and Jalan Antasari," said Budi.
