Russia-Eurasia as a New Target, BPDP Promotes Access to the Indonesian Palm Oil Product Market
JAKARTA - The Plantation Fund Management Agency (BPDP) continues to strengthen international promotion and cooperation to expand the market for Indonesian palm oil products.
After participating as a Co-Exhibitor at INNOPROM 2026 in Yekaterinburg, Russia, BPDP continued a series of promotional activities through support for the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the Indonesian Palm Oil Entrepreneurs Association (GAPKI) with The Fat and Oil Union of Russia and the Association of Enterprises of Fat and Oil Industry of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) which took place at the Indonesian Republic Embassy (KBRI) Moscow.
At the INNOPROM 2026 event, BPDP also participated as a resource person in an international business forum that raised the theme of sustainable palm oil financing and the development of Indonesian biodiesel.
This participation is part of BPDP's efforts to introduce the development of the Indonesian palm oil industry, including downstream, research and innovation, the implementation of B50 biodiesel, as well as investment potential and international cooperation in the palm oil sector.
The signing of the MoU was carried out by the General Chairperson of GAPKI, Eddy Martono, together with representatives of the Russian oil and fat industry organizations, and was witnessed by the Director of Legal and Cooperation of BPDP, Pangihutan Siagian, and the Ambassador of the Republic of Indonesia to the Russian Federation and the Republic of Belarus, H.E. Jose Tavares.
This cooperation is a strategic step in strengthening collaboration between Indonesian palm oil industry players with partners in Russia and the Eurasian region.
Director of Law and Cooperation of BPDP, Pangihutan Siagian, conveyed that this cooperation is an important momentum to expand the international partnership network as well as open up greater market opportunities for Indonesian palm oil products.
"BPDP welcomes the establishment of this cooperation as an effort to strengthen the position of the Indonesian palm oil industry in the global market. Collaboration between Indonesian business actors and partners in Russia is expected to increase information exchange, strengthen promotion, and open opportunities for mutually beneficial cooperation for both parties," said Pangihutan.
The MoU is expected to become a foundation for the development of various forms of cooperation, including information exchange, trade promotion, capacity building, development of industry standards, and expansion of market access for Indonesian palm oil products in Russia and member countries of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU).
In his remarks, the Ambassador of the Republic of Indonesia to the Russian Federation and the Republic of Belarus, H.E. Jose Tavares, expressed his appreciation for the realization of this cooperation.
He hopes that the MoU can be implemented in a tangible manner so that it benefits all parties and contributes to improving Indonesia's trade relations with Russia and EAEU member countries.
The Indonesian Ambassador also emphasized the commitment of the Indonesian Embassy in Moscow to continue to support various initiatives that strengthen economic relations between the two countries. This cooperation is in line with the increasingly close economic relations between Indonesia and Russia and the EAEU region.
Bilateral relations between Indonesia and Russia have been upgraded to a Strategic Partnership since 2025, while the Indonesia-EAEU Free Trade Agreement signed at the end of 2025 is expected to be implemented in 2027.
This momentum is expected to further open up opportunities for increased trade, including palm oil commodities and their derivatives.
As an institution that manages plantation funds, BPDP continues to be committed to strengthening the competitiveness of the Indonesian palm oil industry through various programs, ranging from human resource development, research and innovation, bioenergy development, to promotion in international markets.
BPDP's participation in INNOPROM 2026 and support for the signing of this MoU are part of the strategy to expand the global partnership network, strengthen economic diplomacy, and open new market opportunities for sustainable Indonesian palm oil products.
