Indonesia Mixed Doubles at the Japan Open 2026
JAKARTA - The Indonesian mixed doubles sector could not bring the full force to face the 2026 BWF Super 750 Japan Open badminton event which took place this week because four pairs had to be withdrawn.
The four pairs who could not take part in the Tokyo Metropolitan Gymnasium were Jafar Hidayatullah/Felisha Alberta Nathaniel Pasaribu, Adnan Maulana/Indah Cahya Sari Jamil, Rehan Naufal Kusharjanto/Gloria Emanuelle Widjaja, and Bobby Setiabudi/Melati Daeva Oktavianti.
Shendy Puspa Irawati as the manager of the Indonesian team said that Felisha suffered an ankle injury during training so that he was not ready to compete in Japan.
"This decision was made based on the athlete's health condition by considering the recovery aspect so that they can return to compete in the best condition," said Shendy in an official statement received from the Indonesian Badminton Association (PBSI).
Meanwhile, Adnan/Indah have no car trouble, but are considered not ready to compete. In addition to not going to Japan, the pair are also confirmed to be absent from the 2026 BWF Super 1000 China Open which will be held next week.
"Based on the results of the evaluation of the coaching team, the preparation of the two is considered not to have run optimally to appear in the two tournaments," said Shendy.
PBSI did not provide detailed information regarding the absence of Rehan/Gloria and Bobby/Melati. The absence of the four pairs makes the mixed doubles only rely on the pair of Amri Syahnawi/Nita Violina Marwah.
The BWF Super 750 Japan Open 2026 will take place on Tuesday, July 14, 2026, until Sunday, July 19, 2026. Indonesia only sent a total of 11 representatives to compete in Japan.
In addition to mixed doubles, the women's singles sector also only relies on Putri Kusuma Wardani. As for the men's singles, men's doubles, and women's doubles each have three representatives.
From the men's singles, the names that were dropped were Jonatan Christie, Alwi Farhan, and Mohammad Zaki Ubaidillah. Then the men's doubles sent Fajar Alfian/Muhammad Shohibul Fikri, Sabar Karyaman Gutama/Mohammad Reza Pahlevi Isfahani, and Raymond Indra/Nikolaus Joaquin.
Next, the three women's doubles pairs are Rachel Allessya Rose/Febi Setianingrum, Febriana Dwipuji Kusuma/Meilysa Trias Puspitasari, and Siti Fadia Silva Ramadhanti/Amallia Cahaya Pratiwi.
