Gus Yahya Pastikan Kembali Maju sebagai Calon Ketua Umum PBNU di Muktamar ke-35 NU

JOMBANG - The General Chairman of the Nahdlatul Ulama General Board (PBNU) KH Yahya Cholil Staquf or Gus Yahya ensures that he will run again as the candidate for the General Chairman of PBNU at the 35th Nahdlatul Ulama Congress which will be held at Pondok Pesantren Bahrul Ulum, Tambakberas, Jombang, on 27-31 August 2026.

Gus Yahya said the decision to run again was based on his desire to complete a number of programs that had not been realized during his leadership. According to him, there are still a number of organizational agendas that are delayed due to various conditions faced by PBNU in recent years.

"I used to run as the General Chairman of PBNU with promises to do a number of things. However, due to circumstances, there are some programs that have not been implemented. If in normal circumstances, all that I promised would certainly have been completed before the muktamar," said Gus Yahya when visiting the Bahrul Ulum Pondok Pesantren, Tambakberas, Jombang, Sunday, July 12.

He admitted that he still had a moral responsibility to complete these programs if he received a mandate from the muktamirin.

"If given time, I want to pay off the debt of that program. If I am not given time, then automatically I consider the debt to be paid off and not billed again on Yaumul Hisab," he said.

In addition to ensuring his re-election as PBNU General Chair, Gus Yahya also held a meeting with the management of the Bahrul Ulum Pondok Pesantren Foundation in Dalem Kasepuhan.

On that occasion, he met with the Chairman of the Bahrul Ulum Foundation and Chairman of the Local Committee for the 35th NU Congress, KH Abdur Rozaq Soleh, who was the dzuriyah of KH Wahab Chasbullah, one of the founders of Nahdlatul Ulama.

Gus Yahya mengaku bersyukur Muktamar ke-35 NU akhirnya diputuskan berlangsung di Pondok Pesantren Tambakberas, Jombang. Menurutnya, pesantren yang memiliki nilai historis bagi NU tersebut diharapkan menghadirkan suasana yang teduh dan kondusif selama pelaksanaan muktamar.

"I am very happy because the decision to hold the NU Congress at Tambakberas Pond, Jombang has been reached," he said.

Meanwhile, the Chairman of the Local Committee for the 35th NU Congress, KH Abdur Rozaq Soleh, said that all preparations for the implementation of the congress continued to be perfected.

The committee is currently focusing on completing various technical needs, ranging from arranging parking areas, providing accommodation for the muktamirin, to the readiness of the opening location so that all series of activities can run smoothly.
