BPDP Wins Medbun Awards for Commitment to Empowering Palm Oil MSMEs
JAKARTA - The Plantation Fund Management Agency (BPDP) received the "Excellence Institution in Empowering Micro, Small, and Medium Palm Oil Enterprises" award in the 2026 Medbun Awards. The award given to BPDP is a form of appreciation for its commitment and role in encouraging the development of micro, small, and medium enterprises based on palm oil in Indonesia.
The award was given in the 4th Technology and Talent Palm Oil Mill Indonesia (TPOMI) 2026 activities which were held on July 8-10, 2026 at the Adi Mulia Hotel, Medan, North Sumatra. TPOMI was attended by more than 400 participants from various regions and presented by 50 companies and institutions.
BPDP actively and consistently supports the growth of innovative, independent and sustainable palm oil MSMEs, by always providing various capacity improvement programs, facilitation of promotions and strengthening competitiveness so that they can become upgraded MSMEs.
Until June 2026, the BPDP UMKM Cooperation activities have reached 52 activity programs in collaboration with various stakeholders ranging from farmers' associations, universities, ministries, media to boarding schools.
Head of the BPDP's Community Cooperation and MSME Division, Helmi Muhansyah, said that BPDP continues to support the development of human resources (HR), technology adoption, and the acceleration of the downstream of the Indonesian palm oil industry towards a competitive and sustainable industry so that MSMEs also have quality products.
"Technology and industrial downstream not only provide benefits for large-scale processing sectors, but must also open opportunities for MSMEs to produce innovative palm oil-based products that have added value and competitiveness," said Helmi.
Investigating the theme "Updating Technology & Talent Palm Oil Mill and Downstream" with the sub-theme "Commoditization of Plantation Commodities Towards Indonesia's Gold Palm Pillar 2045", TPOMI 2026 is a strategic platform that brings together the government, academics, industry players and MSMEs, practitioners, and technology providers to discuss various innovations and challenges in the development of the national palm oil processing industry.
Through the BPDP exhibition booth at TPOMI 2026, visitors obtained information on SME development programs, plantation commodity promotion, and information on downstream processing which can be business opportunities.
Visitors also obtain information regarding various palm oil derivatives products and their potential for development as part of efforts to encourage the growth of commodity-based entrepreneurship in plantations, including heads, palm oil and cocoa.
TPOMI is held for 3 days where participants can attend conferences, technical seminars, panel discussions, and technology exhibitions featuring various innovations in the field of palm oil processing, industrial digitization, automation of various Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Internet of Things (IoT), energy efficiency, to software solutions to support palm oil mill operations.
