2026 World Cup: Jude Bellingham brace sends England into semi-final after beating Norway 2-1

Jude Bellingham led England to the 2026 World Cup semi-finals after all three Lions' goals beat Norway 2-1 after going through extra time in the quarter-final match at the Miami Stadium, USA on Sunday.

Norway took the lead through Andreas Schjelderup's goal before Bellingham's two goals turned England to victory.

This result brings Thomas Tuchel's troops to the top four to face the winner of the Argentina-Switzerland match.

Norway started the match perfectly. Schjelderup gave his team an early lead when the match was only two minutes in. The young winger fired from the right side of the penalty box which hit the far post before nestling in Jordan Pickford's goal.

England continued to press to catch up and finally equalized in the first half injury time.

Anthony Gordon sent a pull pass that Bellingham finished in the penalty box with mature control before firing into Orjan Nyland's goal.

Harry Kane almost brought England back into the lead just before half-time, but the captain's goal was ruled out for offside.

In the second half, Norway scored through Torbjorn Heggem in the 55th minute after taking advantage of a corner situation.

But, after reviewing the Video Assistant Referee (VAR) footage, the referee canceled the goal because Erling Haaland first committed a foul against Elliot Anderson before the goal.

Both teams failed to score until the end of normal time so the match continued into extra time.

England finally turned the tide in the early stages of extra time.

Bellingham quickly pounced on the ball from Morgan Rogers' shot that Nyland failed to perfectly embrace to change the score to 2-1.

The Three Lions earned a penalty in the 96th minute after Eberechi Eze was brought down by Oscar Bobb in the penalty area. However, the decision was overturned after a VAR review ruled it as not a penalty.

Norway tried to equalize in the remaining minutes of the match, but the English defense was too solid.

England also won 2-1 to follow France and Spain into the 2026 World Cup semifinals.
