France Just Need Six Minutes to Reach the Semifinals, Deschamps: There is Mbappe No Problem

JAKARTA - A missed penalty did not make France captain Kylian Mbappe lose confidence. As a result, Mbappe managed to score a goal that opened France's 2-0 victory over Morocco in the 2026 World Cup quarterfinal at the Gillette Stadium, Boston, United States, Friday, July 10, 2026 early morning WIB. Coach Didier Deschamps was not shy about praising Mbappe who played a big role in bringing France to the semifinals.

Deschamps admitted that France played a game that was not easy at all. The two-time World Champion actually had to be ahead when the match entered the 28th minute.

The opportunity was obtained through a penalty kick. Only Mbappe who executed failed to carry out the task. His shot was too weak so that it could be secured by goalkeeper Bono.

However, France did not lose spirit and finally broke the deadlock. Mbappe opened Les Bleus' victory in the 60th minute. This is the 20th goal of the Real Madrid star during 20 appearances at the World Cup.

Only six minutes later, it was Ousmane Dembele's turn to strengthen France's lead to 2-0. The goal was like turning off Morocco's ability to catch up. The victory brought France into the semi-finals to meet Spain or Belgium.

"It was a very good and tough game. We failed to finish the penalty and threw away some opportunities," Deschamps said in response to the match as quoted by FIFA.

Despite the difficulties, Deschamps remains optimistic about ending the match with a victory. This is because France has Mbappe who is able to change the game.

"When there is Kylian, there is obviously no problem. He never doubts himself. In fact, he still has a chance before finally scoring a goal," he said again.

"We are already in the position we want. I can already imagine that there is joy and celebration everywhere in France. We ourselves will undergo recovery first while waiting for who our next opponent will be," said Deschamps.
