Precious Metals to Foreign Exchange Billions of Rupiah Confiscated by the KPK During the OTT of the Regent of Sukoharjo

JAKARTA - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) confiscated precious metals and cash in various foreign currencies worth billions of rupiah in a hand-in-hand operation (OTT) that ensnared Sukoharjo Regent Etik Suryani.

KPK spokesperson Budi Prasetyo said the evidence was secured in conjunction with the arrest of 18 people in an operation that took place in the Solo Raya area, Central Java, since Thursday, July 9.

"In addition to securing a number of people, the team also secured evidence in the form of precious metals, then cash in both rupiah and foreign exchange, there are Australian dollars and then there are Singapore dollars. In total, it reached billions of rupiah," said Budi to reporters at the KPK Red and White building, Kuningan Persada, South Jakarta, Friday, July 10.

Budi explained that of the 18 people who were secured, nine people had been taken to the anti-corruption commission's office for intensive examination.

In the first batch, five people have arrived in Jakarta, namely the Regent of Sukoharjo Etik Suryani along with four state civil servants (ASN) of the Sukoharjo Regency Government.

Meanwhile, the second batch consists of five other people, namely three ASN Pemkab Sukoharjo and two private parties who were also secured in the Wonogiri, Solo, and Sukoharjo areas.

The KPK suspects that Etik Suryani has extorted regional devices in the Sukoharjo Regency Government environment. However, the KPK has not revealed the construction of the case or the parties who will be named as suspects.

According to the provisions, the KPK has a maximum of 1x24 hours from the arrest to determine the legal status of the parties secured in the hand-in-hand operation.
