Despite the Mutual Attacks, the US-Iran is Reported to Continue Technical Negotiations on the Nuclear Deal
JAKARTA - The United States and Iran are reportedly continuing technical negotiations on nuclear issues with the aim of reaching a diplomatic solution, according to a US official, despite military-to-military attacks.
"The United States remains committed to finding a solution, and technical talks continue. Iran must not have nuclear weapons," the official said, quoted by CNN, Friday, July 10.
The official said the memorandum of understanding was "performance-based", and Iran's actions - including not fully reopening the Strait of Hormuz and attacks on ships during the NATO summit - "were a performance failure at an unacceptable level."
"Iran's attack on these innocent ships is an act of terrorism," the official added.
US President Donald Trump previously said the US-Iran deal was over because of the IRGC's attack on a ship in the Strait of Hormuz. Moments later, US militants attacked a number of targets in Iran. This mutual attack occurred for 3 consecutive days.
