Rachmat Gobel Buried at Kalibata Cemetery After Friday Prayer
JAKARTA - The family confirmed that the late Rachmat Gobel will be buried at the Kalibata Heroes Cemetery (TMP) in South Jakarta, on Friday, July 10 after Friday prayers. This decision also straightened out the previous information that said the body would be buried in his hometown in Gorontalo Province.
The certainty was conveyed by the family through an official statement on Friday morning. Before being buried, the body was placed at a funeral home at Jalan Prof. Dr. Soepomo Number 55A, South Jakarta.
"Thank you for the attention and prayers of friends. The family decided that the late Rachmat Gobel would be buried in the Kalibata Heroes Cemetery after Friday prayers," said the family statement.
The family also asked for prayers and asked the public to forgive all the mistakes of the deceased during his life.
"We ask for prayers and forgiveness for all the mistakes of the deceased during his life," continued the statement.
Rachmat Gobel left behind his beloved wife, Retno Damayanti, two children, Nurfitria Sekarwillis Kusumawardhani and Mohammad Arif Gobel, as well as grandchildren and his extended family.
Rachmat Gobel is a national figure known as an entrepreneur and politician of the NasDem Party. Until the end of his life, he still served as a member of the Indonesian House of Representatives for the 2024-2029 period from the Gorontalo Electoral District and served on Commission VI which deals with trade, industry, investment, cooperatives, and state-owned enterprises (SOEs).
Previously, he also served as Deputy Chairman of the Indonesian House of Representatives for the 2019-2024 period. In the field of government, President Joko Widodo entrusted Rachmat Gobel to become Minister of Trade at the beginning of the 2014-2019 Working Cabinet. The entrepreneur who has long led the Panasonic Gobel Group served as Trade Minister from October 2014 to August 2015 before his position was replaced by Thomas Trikasih Lembong in a cabinet reshuffle.
The family's decision to bury Rachmat Gobel at TMP Kalibata is a form of respect for the late's dedication during his career in the business world, government, and legislative institutions.
