PT DKI Jakarta Lightens Sentence for Four Defendants in Crude Oil Case

JAKARTA - The DKI Jakarta High Court (PT) has reduced the sentences of four defendants in the alleged corruption case of crude oil and refinery product management in the 2018-2023 period.

The four defendants in question, namely Yoki Firnandi, Gading Ramadhan Juedo, and Maya Kusuma, each received 7 years in prison and Dimas Werhaspati received 8 years in prison.

"The panel of judges accepted the appeal of the defendants and the public prosecutor," said Presiding Judge Budi Susilo when reading the appeal verdict, reported by ANTARA, Thursday, July 9.

In addition to imprisonment, the panel of judges also reduced the fourth fine to Rp500 million each with the provision that if it is not paid, it will be replaced (subsider) with imprisonment for 140 days.

Although the four main sentences were mitigated, the panel of judges imposed additional sentences in the form of payment of compensation to each of the defendants in the amount of Rp. 5 billion, subsider 4 years in prison.

The presiding judge stated that there were several aggravating and mitigating factors for the appeal verdict that had been handed down. The aggravating factor was that the defendants' actions did not support the government's program in eradicating corruption.

"The situation is easing, namely the defendants are polite in court, have never been sentenced and still have family responsibilities," said the Chief Judge.

Previously, Yoki as the President Director of PT Pertamina International Shipping in 2022-2024 and Maya as the Director of Central Marketing and Sales of PT Pertamina Patra Niaga in 2023 were sentenced to 9 years in prison each.

Meanwhile, Gading as Commissioner of PT Pelayaran Mahameru Kencana Abadi (PMKA) and Dimas as Commissioner of PT Jenggala Maritim Nusantara (JMN) were sentenced by the panel of judges of the first instance court with 14 years in prison each.

The four defendants were also each sentenced to a fine of Rp1 billion, subsider 190 days in prison.

The four were proven to be involved in corruption in the crude oil governance case, together with other defendants, including the beneficial owner of PT Navigator Khatulistiwa Muhammad Kerry Adrianto Riza.
