DTKJ Suggests Transjakarta Subscription Tickets Starting from a Week to a Month

JAKARTA - The Jakarta City Transportation Council (DTKJ) proposes that Transjakarta have several subscription ticket options with a validity period of seven days, 14 days, up to one month.

The Chairman of the DKI Jakarta DTKJ, Sugihardjo, said that the subscription ticket scheme is expected to make it easier for the public while saving transportation costs for passengers who regularly use Transjakarta, especially in the midst of plans to increase fares.

"DTKJ also proposes the implementation of a Transjakarta subscription rate, namely R200,000 for one month, Rp90,000 for 14 days, and Rp45,000 for seven days," said Sugihardjo as reported by ANTARA, Thursday, July 9.

In addition to subscription tickets, DTKJ also proposes a time-based tariff system. For Transjakarta services within the DKI Jakarta area, which includes rapid transit buses (BRT), non-BRT, and Microtrans, the tariff is proposed to be Rp5,000 with a validity of three hours.

This means that passengers can switch Transjakarta services for three hours without having to pay the fare again, not just for one trip as is the case with the current system.

Meanwhile, for the Transjabodetabek service, DTKJ proposed a tariff of Rp. 10,000 with a validity period of three hours. This service includes Transjabodetabek, Transjakarta, Microtrans, to Trans Airport.

With this proposal, it is hoped that the public will be able to feel greater benefits if the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government decides to raise the Transjakarta tariff.

Sugihardjo said his party considered that the adjustment of tariffs needed to be considered because the Transjakarta tariff of Rp3,500 has not changed since 2005.

For the past 21 years, said Sugihardjo, the cost of living has continued to increase, as has the Transjakarta service network, which now reaches about 93 percent of Jakarta.

However, DTKJ emphasized that the increase in tariffs must be balanced with an increase in services that are truly felt by the community.

"Whatever the increase in tariffs that will be determined, DTKJ proposes an increase in the value of services that are felt directly by the community, in the form of adding ticket usage time or expanding more integrated services," said Sugihardjo.
