TNI Denies Deploying Soldiers to Polda Metro Jaya

JAKARTA - The Head of the TNI Headquarters Information Center, Brigadier General TNI Muhamad Nas, denied the deployment of soldiers to the Metro Jaya Police Headquarters as stated in a video circulating on social media.

Nas confirmed that the information regarding the deployment of soldiers was not true.

"The news is not true," he said, quoted by ANTARA, Thursday, July 9.

Nas did not provide further explanation regarding the video that was circulating.

The issue arose after a video circulated on social media showing a number of people with long guns and wearing uniforms in the vicinity of the Polda Metro Jaya, specifically in front of the Special Criminal Investigation Directorate Building.

Based on the narrative accompanying the video, the incident is said to have occurred early Thursday morning. However, until now it is not known for sure what their purpose was in the area of the Polda Metro Jaya.

As of Thursday afternoon, the Metro Jaya Police have also not given an official statement regarding the video.
