SLEMAN - President Prabowo Subianto calls Prambanan Temple a witness to the long history of the relationship between Indonesian and Indian civilizations. This relationship, said Prabowo, has been established for more than 1,000 years and its traces are still felt to this day.
The statement was made by Prabowo when accompanying Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi to visit Prambanan Temple, Sleman, Yogyakarta, Wednesday, July 8.

"The relationship between the two nations is not only built through political, economic, and defense cooperation, but also has strong roots in cultural values, science, and mutual respect between each other," he said.
Prabowo said that the history could still be seen and felt. One of them is through the relief of the Ramayana story carved on the walls of Prambanan Temple.
"Candi Prambanan also has a special meaning for the Indonesian and Indian nations because the relief of the Ramayana story carved on the walls is a witness to the closeness of the civilizations of our two nations," said Prabowo.
According to Prabowo, Prambanan is not just a relic of the past. The temple illustrates the great civilization of Nusantara which appreciates science, art, spirituality, and humanity.
"Prambanan Temple is not just a historical building. It is a symbol of the great civilization of Nusantara which upholds science, art, spirituality, and humanity," he said.
Prabowo also called Prambanan a masterpiece of world civilization. He assessed that the temple was the pride of Indonesia as well as the pride of the world.
"Today I have the opportunity to accompany the Prime Minister of the Republic of India, Mr. Narendra Modi, to visit Prambanan Temple, one of the masterpieces of world civilization and a cultural heritage that is the pride not only of the Indonesian nation, but also the pride of the world," said Prabowo.
On that occasion, Prabowo also welcomed the agreement on the conservation and restoration of the Prambanan Temple complex between the Indonesian and Indian governments.
"On behalf of the government and the people of Indonesia, I express my deepest gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his state visit to Indonesia this time for three days," said Prabowo.
Prabowo hopes that the visit will make the relationship between the Indonesian and Indian people closer. He said that culture could be a bridge to build mutual understanding and trust between the two nations.
