Driving Safety Is Not Enough with a Helmet, First Aid Is Now an Important Supply
JAKARTA - Increasing community mobility makes online taxi services the main choice for daily activities. However, behind this ease, the risk of accidents or minor injuries on the road remains something that cannot be completely avoided.
In these conditions, the first few minutes of treatment are very important. First aid done correctly can help reduce the risk of infection in wounds and prevent the victim's condition from getting worse before receiving medical treatment.
Awareness of the importance of this readiness has begun to encourage a number of parties to provide first aid education for online motorcycle taxi driver partners.
Considering their high mobility on the road, drivers are considered the most likely to be at the scene when an incident occurs, involving both passengers and other road users.
One of the efforts is carried out through a collaboration between Grab Indonesia and Hansaplast in the "First Aid On The Go" program, which presents driving safety education as well as basic first aid training for Grab driver partners.
Roy Nugroho, Director of Commercial Grab Indonesia, said the cooperation was born from the needs that are close to people's daily lives.
"Minor wounds can happen at any time, often in unplanned situations, so speed and ease of access are key. Through GrabMart Lightning, which is a lightning-fast daily shopping service within the GrabMart ecosystem, we want to help consumers get Hansaplast wound care solutions more practically, including when needs arise suddenly,"
"On the other hand, first aid education for driver partners is expected to provide direct benefits for those who are active on the road every day and interact with many people. Through this program, we want to encourage new habits in the community that are active in mobility, including Grab driver partners and users, to be more ready to provide first aid, both for themselves and others around them," said Roy Nugroho in his statement to VOI, Wednesday, July 8.
During the training, driver partners were introduced to basic steps for treating minor wounds consisting of three stages, namely cleaning the wound, protecting the wound using the appropriate cover, and assisting the healing process through proper care.
This knowledge is expected to be useful when facing minor emergency situations in the field.
Business Unit Health Care Director of PT Beiersdorf Indonesia, Vivilya Lukman, assessed education on first aid is as important as the availability of wound care products.
"We continue to strive to provide solutions that are safe, practical, and relevant to consumer needs. This cooperation is an important step for us to expand access to halal wound care solutions, especially through the ecosystem that people use in their daily activities, both by the general public and Grab driver partners who have high mobility," he said.
On the other hand, the community's need for basic health supplies is also increasing. Grab recorded that the Health & Personal Care category on GrabMart experienced an order growth of more than 45 percent in the first half of 2026.
This trend shows that more and more people are starting to prepare first aid equipment as part of their daily needs.
First aid is still not a substitute for medical services. Initial treatment aims to help victims remain in a safer condition while waiting for examination or treatment by health workers if necessary.
For passengers, the presence of driver partners who understand the initial steps of wound treatment can provide more security when traveling, because if there is a minor incident on the way, first aid can be done before medical assistance arrives.
