Police Line Officer Sumur Bor in Sampang Sprays Gas
SAMPANG - Officers from the Sampang Police, East Java, installed a police line at a drilling well that emitted gas to anticipate undesirable things.
"We carry out the installation of this police line based on the results of coordination with related services in the environment of the Sampang Regency Government and prevent unwanted things from happening," said Public Relations Officer of the Sampang Police, AKP Eko Puji Waluyo, as reported by ANTARA, Wednesday, July 8.
The well drilled by the residents who released the gas is located in East Solong Village, Karanggayam Village, Omben District, Sampang.
Head of the Emergency and Logistics Section of the Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) of Sampang Regency, Mohammad Hozin, said the incident began when drilling was carried out from Wednesday, July 1 until it entered the trial stage on Monday, July 6, 2026 after reaching a depth of 42 meters.
At the time of the trial, the well was still releasing normal water, but at around 13.00 WIB the water smelled of gas and was flammable.
"BPBD immediately carried out an assessment at the location with related elements. Initial handling was carried out by adding a two-meter-high paralon pipe so that the fire could be more controlled and the surrounding area was safer," he said.
In addition, he continued, the BPBD also coordinates with the TNI, Polri, sub-district government, and local people to anticipate potential dangers.
"We also ask the security forces from the Sampang Police to install a police line, and today the installation was carried out immediately," he said.
In addition, Hozin continued, his party also reported the incident to the East Java Provincial Human Resources Development Agency (BPSDM).
"We also sent samples from today's gas-smelling water spray to the East Java Provincial BKSDM and for further waiting for instructions from this institution, whether the gas-smelling boreholes are left or closed," he said.
