The Victim Died Due to the Venezuelan Earthquake Now Reaches 3,685 People
JAKARTA - The number of deaths from the twin earthquakes that shook Venezuela on June 24 has now reached 3,685 people, while 17,907 others have lost their homes.
"A total of 3,685 people died, 16,740 were injured, and 6,462 were rescued," said the President of the Venezuelan National Assembly, Jorge Rodriguez, as reported by ANTARA from Sputnik, Wednesday, July 8.
According to the latest data, as many as 17,907 people are still homeless and 86,794 families have received assistance.
A total of 87 temporary camps have been set up across the region and 9,603 tons of food and more than 8.32 million liters of water have been distributed. A total of 25,970 people have also received medical assistance.
On Wednesday, June 24, two strong earthquakes with a magnitude of 7.2 and 7.5 shook the country on the northern coast of South America in close succession.
The initial shock (foreshock) with a magnitude of 7.2 occurred at 18.04 local time (GMT-4/11:00 WIB) and was followed by a main earthquake with a magnitude of 7.5 with a time interval of 39 seconds after it.
