A series of earthquakes hit Banten, East Java, West Java to Bali on Wednesday morning.
JAKARTA - A number of areas on the island of Java to Bali were shaken by earthquakes with varying magnitudes on Wednesday, July 8, early morning to this morning. The first earthquake shook Sumur, Banten with a magnitude of 5.5 at 02.44 WIB.
BMKG recorded the epicenter of the earthquake in the sea at coordinates 6.83 degrees south latitude and 105.04 degrees east longitude, or about 62 kilometers southwest of Sumur, Pandeglang Regency, Banten.
"The earthquake has a movement mechanism or thrust fault with a center depth of 43 kilometers. The results of the modeling show that this earthquake is not tsunami-potential," said Wijayanto as reported by Antara, Wednesday morning.
After that, an earthquake shook the Malang Regency area, East Java with a magnitude of 2.3 at 03.51 WIB. The epicenter of the earthquake was in the sea at coordinates 8.86 degrees south latitude and 112.86 degrees east longitude, or about 86 kilometers southeast of Malang Regency, with a depth of 86 kilometers.
Not long after, the turn of Bandung Regency was shaken by an earthquake with a magnitude of 3.2 at 04.07 WIB.
The epicenter of the earthquake was at coordinates 7.85 degrees south latitude and 107.28 degrees east longitude, or about 96 kilometers southwest of Bandung Regency, with a depth of 12 kilometers.
Then, in the morning at 05.36 WIB, an earthquake shook South Kuta, Bali with a magnitude of 2.6. BMKG reported that the epicenter of the earthquake was at the coordinates of 9.51 degrees south latitude and 115.62 degrees east longitude, or about 90 kilometers southeast of South Kuta with a depth of 33 kilometers.
