Fighting on Social Media, Trump: Italian PM Good Person But Made Mistakes
JAKARTA - US President Donald Trump called Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni a "good person", although at the end of last week he made a statement on Truth Social that implied the need for "detention orders" against Meloni.
"In my opinion, he is actually a good person, we have had a good week. Our relationship had deteriorated. The relationship was a bit strained because he refused to help us again," Trump said in a bilateral meeting with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan in Ankara, reported CNN, Tuesday, July 7.
"In my opinion, he is actually a good person. However, in my opinion he has made a mistake," Trump continued referring to Italy's refusal to help in the war related to Iran.
Trump said he did not put "any pressure" on Meloni to ask for help.
But when Meloni refused to involve Italy, Trump said it damaged relations with the Italian PM.
