Gerindra Does Not Mind PSI Targeting Central Java as "Elephant Cage"
JAKARTA - Chairman of the Gerindra Party Honorary Council, Ahmad Muzani, stated that his party did not mind if the Solidarity Party targeted Central Java as the "elephant's cage" alias the largest vote base of the party which now has the elephant's head as its symbol. According to him, political parties must compete, considering that Gerindra also once wanted to make Central Java as the "nest of Garuda".
"I think every political party must have a great determination to voice the aspirations of the people of the region. The more political parties that want to make their struggle base, I think the better," said Muzani at the DPR building, Senayan, Jakarta, Tuesday, July 7.
"It means there is competition in the area in terms of aspirations and political power to advance the area. I think it's okay," he continued.
Previously, PSI was ready to ensure that the 7th President of the Republic of Indonesia, Joko Widodo (Jokowi), would make Central Java a 'elephant's cage'. This follows Jokowi's political safari plan which will continue to Jateng.
"We are immediately waiting for a schedule from Mr. for the date. What is clear, our task today is to prepare for Mr. to go down, for Mr. to tour Central Java, to ensure that Central Java is really a 'elephant cage'," said Chairman of the PSI Central Java DPW, Antonius Yogo to reporters, Saturday, July 4.
Meanwhile, Central Java is often known as the 'bull pen', a nickname for the region with the highest vote share held by PDIP.
