Ojol 8 Percent Rule Effective from July 1, Minister of Transportation asks Applicators to Explain to Drivers
JAKARTA - Minister of Transportation Dudy Purwagandhi said the rule for a 8 percent reduction in the applicator for online taxis or ojol has been in effect since July 1. However, he admitted that there was still a difference in interpretation among drivers about how to calculate it.
Dudy said that so far there have been changes after the rule came into effect. However, the Ministry of Transportation has not received official reports from the ojol association.
"If we look at it, there has been a change. If from the association, nothing has been conveyed," said Dudy at the Presidential Palace Complex, Jakarta, Tuesday, July 7.
According to Dudy, the difference in interpretation arises because some drivers still calculate the rules in a different way. Therefore, he asked the appraiser to give more explanations to the drivers.
"Indeed, there are still differences in interpretation from friends of ojol who calculate what it is like. We ask that the appraiser explain more to friends of ojol," he said.
Dudy emphasized that the 8 percent rule only applies to two-wheeled ojol carrying passengers. The rule does not apply to courier services.
"Yes, two wheels," said Dudy.
When asked whether the rule only applies to two-wheeled passengers, Dudy confirmed.
"Two-wheeled passenger only," he said.
Dudy also emphasized that courier services were not included in the regulation. According to Dudy, delivery services are under the regulation of other ministries.
"No. If the delivery is the rule, it is in Komdigi," he said.
For four-wheeled vehicles, Dudy said the government had not implemented a similar rule. He explained that some of the regulations for four-wheeled vehicles were also in the hands of local governments.
"Because the four wheels, there are also local governments that regulate it," said Dudy.
Dudy has not said whether the 8 percent cut rule will be expanded to four wheels. For now, the government is still applying it to two-wheeled passenger ojol.
"While no, we are still on two wheels," said Dudy.
