Sido Muncul Holds Free Cleft Lip Operation in Bekasi

JAKARTA - PT Industri Jamu Dan Farmasi Sido Muncul Tbk (Sido Muncul) through its flagship products Kuku Bima and Tolak Angin, in collaboration with Smile Train Indonesia held a social service Free Operation of Lip and Sky Cleft for 50 patients at Hermina Galaxy Hospital, Bekasi City, on Thursday, July 2.

On that occasion, the President Director of Sido Muncul, Dr. (H.C.) Irwan Hidayat, symbolically handed over assistance worth Rp325 million to the Country Manager and Program Director of Smile Train Indonesia, Deasy Larasati.

Irwan said that this free cleft lip surgery program is a form of corporate concern for children with congenital abnormalities and their families. He emphasized that the challenges faced by parents are not only related to costs, but also concerns about the growth and development of children and their future.

"We can feel that children who suffer from cleft lip have difficulty eating, speaking, and lack confidence in their appearance. Therefore, we are back to providing free cleft lip surgery assistance for 50 sufferers in the Bekasi area," said Irwan.

Behind the consistency of the social program, Irwan admitted that he had a very personal reason. The experience of facing serious illness when he was young changed his way of looking at life and instilled the belief that companies must be able to benefit the community.

"My life journey finally brought me to the belief that this company must be able to provide benefits to the community," he said.

For Irwan, meeting directly with children with cleft lip and palate was a memorable experience. Especially when seeing the changes they felt after undergoing surgery.

"So far I have often met patients. The experience of seeing them, especially after surgery, is really touching. It feels like seeing the sky collapse when you know what they are experiencing," said Irwan.

Therefore, he ensured that support for the cleft lip operation program would continue with Smile Train Indonesia.

"Through Kuku Bima and Tolak Angin, we will continue to be committed to supporting cleft lip surgery. If there are people who know children or patients with cleft conditions, please direct them to report to Smile Train. We are one of the entrepreneurs who are ready to participate in helping," he said.
