GREAT Institute: Indonesia's Development Paradigm Change Recognized by the World

JAKARTA - The change in the paradigm of Indonesian development in the era of the Prabowo Subianto government has received positive recognition from the international community. This can be seen from the visits of the President of Belarus Aleksander Lukashenko, the Prime Minister of Singapore Lawrence Wong, and the Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi in close proximity.

Lukashenko's visit was carried out on July 2-4, 2026, followed by Wong's visit (July 6), and Modi's visit (July 6-7).

"World leaders can see and appreciate the new approach used by the Indonesian government in the era of Prabowo Subianto. This state-driven orientation of development aims to strengthen Indonesia's economic and political foundations on the global stage. Of course this is a positive thing so that it is appreciated," said Director of Geopolitics GREAT Institute, Dr. Teguh Santosa, Monday night, July 6, 2026.

Regarding PM Wong's visit from Singapore, Teguh said, so far there has been an assessment that the relationship between Indonesia and Singapore follows the center-periphery or center-periphery model. In this model, Indonesia is a "peripheral country" that supplies economic added value to Singapore which plays the role of "central country".

He continued, with 26 agreements and agreements signed by the two countries during the Leaders' Retreat at the State Palace, it was seen that Indonesia wanted the partnership between the two countries to be based on agreements that were oriented towards mutual benefit, or win-win solutions.

When asked about the biggest challenges after the agreement and agreement was signed, Teguh said the challenge was on the Indonesian internal side.

According to Teguh, all of President Prabowo's aides, from the Coordinating Minister, Ministers, to the lower level of the executive, need to ensure that they move in step with the big vision that has been outlined in the agreements.

"They must be able to move in step with Prabowo's big policy that embodies these agreements," said Teguh.

He said, technical details are often an obstacle in the field. Therefore, precision is needed in every stage of implementation so that this cooperation can run effectively.

Indonesia is often seen to be lagging not because of a lack of will, but because of the challenges in maintaining discipline in implementation within the country.

He also emphasized that international cooperation is not about demanding other countries to give us the greatest benefits, but rather about how we fight for those benefits at the negotiating table and implement them seriously at the operational level.

When asked about the response of great powers such as the United States and China, Teguh assessed that both countries were very aware that each country had national interests that must be fought for.

Teguh closed by emphasizing the importance of Indonesia's bargaining position in international cooperation.

"We must not be on the fringe, but must continue to fight for a more central and profitable position," said Teguh.

With mature internal readiness and consistency in implementation, it is hoped that the strategic cooperation between Indonesia and Singapore, as well as with other countries, can bring tangible benefits for the welfare of the nation.
