SAR Team Finds Victim Killed by Waves on Goa Cemara Beach, Bantul
YOGYAKARTA - A joint SAR team found a victim of a sea accident swept away by waves on Goa Cemara Beach, Bantul Regency, Yogyakarta Special Region, in a dead condition so that the official search operation was closed.
Head of the Yogyakarta SAR Office, Rio Banupanitis, said the victim with the initials MBR (8), a resident of Kalurahan Modalan, Kapanewon Banguntapan, Bantul Regency, was found at around 16.20 WIB on Bugel Beach, Kulon Progo Regency, about 13 kilometers from the location of the incident.
"There were residents who saw the victim floating in the water, then invited his friends to lift the victim to a safe place away from the water," said Rio as quoted by ANTARA, Monday, July 6.
Residents then reported the discovery to the Linmas SAR and the Joint SAR Post. The victim was then evacuated using an ambulance to undergo the identification process by the Inafis Team of the Kulon Progo Police with Wates Hospital.
The victim was previously reported to have been swept away by waves at Goa Cemara Beach on Sunday (5/7) at around 13.27 WIB. The joint SAR team then searched for two days until the victim was found on the second day of the operation.
"On the second day we divided the personnel into four Search and Rescue Units (SRU) that conducted searches through land, sea using a longboat, and aerial monitoring using a drone," he said.
The land SRU combed the area from Pandansari Beach to the location of the incident and from the location of the incident to Cangkring Beach. Meanwhile, the sea SRU uses a longboat to comb the waters to Progo River, while the drone team monitors the area around the location of the incident, Progo River, and Samas Beach.
