Husein Sastranegara Airport Bandung Will Serve 8 Routes When Reactivated

BANDUNG - The Bandung City Government, West Java, has confirmed that Husein Sastranegara Airport will serve eight domestic flight routes when it is reactivated from July to September 2026.

The Mayor of Bandung Muhammad Farhan said that eight routes that are projected to be served by Husein Sastranegara Airport are Denpasar, Balikpapan, Medan, Pontianak, Makassar, Batam, Padang, and Pekanbaru.

"Everyone has agreed to operate the airport between July, August or September. We are still waiting," said Farhan as quoted by ANTARA, Monday, July 6.

Farhan explained that flight operations were entirely the responsibility of the Ministry of Transportation. However, the Bandung City Government continues to prepare various supporting infrastructure so that the airport is ready to operate again.

He explained that a number of physical works had begun, including the repair of public road lighting (PJU), improvement of the drainage system, improvement of road access, and arrangement of parking areas.

The improvements are focused on the route to Husein Sastranegara Airport, especially on Jalan Abdulrahman Saleh and Jalan Pajajaran which are the main access to the airport area.

In addition, said Farhan, the government also coordinates with the Indonesian Air Force regarding the arrangement of parking areas because the airport area is an asset of the Indonesian Air Force.

"The improvement of PJU, drainage, access to Jalan Abdulrahman Saleh and Pajajaran, including parking management is being prepared. Because the area is an asset of the Indonesian Air Force, the implementation is carried out in accordance with coordination and approval from the Indonesian Air Force," he said.

According to Farhan, most of the physical preparations have been completed. However, there are still some homework that needs to be completed, especially related to parking systems and transportation arrangements in the airport area.

"What is still a PR now is about parking and parking management and taxis. It is certain that there should be no mass public vehicles such as angkot or buses entering there," he said.
