Banggar DPR Estimates MBG Budget 2027 Will Drop to Rp174 Trillion

JAKARTA - The Chairman of the House of Representatives Budget Agency (Banggar) Said Abdullah estimates that the budget for the Free Nutritious Meal (MBG) program in 2027 will fall to Rp. 174 trillion, from the 2026 allocation which reached Rp. 268 trillion.

"If MBG is definitely down ... it is no more than Rp174 trillion," said Said as quoted by ANTARA, Monday, July 6.

According to him, the reduction in the MBG budget is based on the calculation of the Nutrition Fulfillment Service Unit (SPPG) as well as the number of beneficiaries according to the needs after evaluating the implementation of the program.

Said said that the adjustment of the budget does not mean lowering the quality, but to ensure that the exact budget allocation for MBG funding next year will be allocated in September, coinciding with the enactment of the State Budget Law (APBN).

Previously, Minister of Finance Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa stated that the plan to reduce the MBG program budget would adjust to President Prabowo Subianto's direction.

When met at the parliament complex, Jakarta, Thursday (11/6), Purbaya admitted that he had received news about the plan. However, he did not reveal the amount for the plan to cut the MBG program budget.

"We follow the decision of the President," said the Minister of Finance.

Meanwhile, the Minister of State Secretary Prasetyo Hadi said there would be a reduction in the budget for the MBG program. The plan emerged from the results of calculations and improvements to the governance of the president's priority program.

However, the government has not set the amount of budget reduction. Prasetyo asked for time for the Ministry of Finance and the National Nutrition Agency (BGN) to calculate the potential reduction in the MBG budget.

"So, from the process of arranging it, we will be able to calculate more accurately the actual budget needed for this MBG Program, in total," said the Minister of Home Affairs, Thursday (11/6).
