Commission III of the DPR asks the National Police Headquarters to investigate the incident of 3 police officers who died during the drug gang riot in Central Kalimantan

Member of Commission III of the House of Representatives, Abdullah, highlighted the incident in which three members of the National Police were killed while carrying out a raid on a drug dealer in Tumbang Kalemei Village, Central Katingan District, Central Kalimantan.

He asked the National Police Headquarters to intervene directly to investigate the case thoroughly until all perpetrators could be arrested and processed according to applicable laws.

The three members of the National Police are Aipda Yudhie Perdana Putra, Aiptu Sumaryanto, and Bripda Nopandri Ramadhana. They died in the line of duty after receiving resistance from drug traffickers and their accomplices on Wednesday, July 1 night.

Abdullah emphasized that the incident must be a serious concern for the ranks of the Indonesian National Police (Polri).

"The National Police Headquarters must intervene to thoroughly investigate this case. Don't stop at the perpetrators in the field, but uncover the entire drug network operating in Central Kalimantan and the surrounding area. They must be wiped out because they have become a real threat to the safety of the community and law enforcement officers," said Abdullah, Monday, July 6.

According to Abdullah, the death of three members of the National Police in the operation must also be the subject of a thorough evaluation for the police institution so that similar incidents do not recur.

"The National Police must conduct a thorough evaluation of the implementation of law enforcement operations against drug traffickers. Don't let there be any more members who die in the line of duty because of lack of preparation or adequate support," he said.

He assessed that every anti-narcotics operation, especially against networks suspected of having great power and armed, must be designed with a mature strategy. In addition, adequate personnel and equipment support are also important factors to ensure the safety of officers.

"The planning of operations must be thoroughly mature by considering all potential threats in the field. The addition of personnel and adequate equipment support also needs to be carried out so that operations run smoothly, successfully, and the safety of members remains a priority," said Abdullah.

Abdullah emphasized that the war against drugs should not recede just because of the resistance of the perpetrators. On the contrary, he said, this event should be a momentum for law enforcement officials to further strengthen the eradication of the narcotics network to its roots in order to protect the community from the dangers of drugs.

"I also convey my deepest condolences for the deaths of three members of the National Police who have sacrificed their lives and their bodies in eradicating the circulation of drugs. May the deceased find the best place by the side of the Almighty God and the families left behind be given strength and fortitude," said Abdullah.
