Tourists Don't Worry, Anyer Beach is Guaranteed Safe from Anak Krakatau

SERANG - The Serang Regency Government (Pemkab) in Serang, Banten, together with the Center for Volcanology and Geological Hazard Mitigation (PVMBG) guarantees that beach tourist destinations in the Anyer and Cinangka areas are safe to visit during the school holidays, even though Mount Anak Krakatau (GAK) is in the Alert status or Level III.

"The condition of Mount Anak Krakatau is sloping and declared safe. We invite tourists, both local and outside the area, not to worry about spending the school holidays with their families on the coast of Serang," said Deputy Regent (Wabup) Serang Muhammad Najib Hamasdilansir ANTARA, Monday, July 6.

The Deputy Regent of Najib also straightened out a video that circulated on social media showing that Mount Anak Krakatau in a state of major eruption was a hoax or a result of editing that was not true.

"We have reviewed the PVMBG Mount Anak Krakatau Observation Post in Pasauran Village, Cinangka District, Serang Regency, the circulating video is not true," he said.

The security guarantee from the Serang Regency Government is fully supported by monitoring from PVMBG. The Post Officer for the Observation of Mount Anak Krakatau (GAK) Deny Mardionomen explained that although tremors were still recorded, the potential danger was far from the tourist area.

"The danger radius is within a three-kilometer distance from the eruption center. Meanwhile, for Anyer Beach, Cinangka, and Carita, the distance is approximately 42 kilometers. So the volcanic material will not get there," said Deny.

Regarding the spread of volcanic ash, Deny said it depends on the direction of the wind. Based on visual monitoring of CCTV, currently only a white cloud of smoke of five to 10 meters high is visible. He also emphasized that the Geological Agency had issued an official letter to deny the eruption hoaxes that were circulating.

PVMBG will continue to monitor and update the report on the activity of Mount Anak Krakatau every six hours. Tourism actors and the public can access this information independently through the Magma Indonesia application or the official PVMBG website.

"We appeal to the public to continue to carry out their activities as usual, not to be provoked by false issues, and always coordinate with the local government and BPBD so that the information received is correct and accurate," said Deny.
