TBS Foundation Disburses Aid for Residents Affected by the Jatiwaringin Landfill Fire through the Tangerang Regency PMI
JAKARTA - As a form of concern for the community affected by the fire at the Jatiwaringin Landfill, Tangerang Regency, the TBS Foundation distributed humanitarian assistance through the Indonesian Red Cross (PMI) Tangerang Regency.
Based on the latest data, hundreds of residents have experienced health disorders in the form of Acute Respiratory Tract Infections (ISPA) due to exposure to smoke, while around more than 50 households consisting of 158 people have been evacuated to temporary evacuation sites to avoid the impact of the worsening air conditions.
According to Achmad Taufik, Head of the Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) of Tangerang Regency, the fire occurred since Tuesday, June 30, 2026 morning. Of the total land area of 32 hectares, 15 hectares were affected by the fire. So far, 8 points have been successfully controlled, leaving 4 fire points that still need to be handled.
The assistance provided in the form of 200 boxes of masks, 60 Oxycan tubes, and food to help meet the needs of affected residents, especially due to exposure to smoke from fires that have occurred in recent days. Through collaboration with the Tangerang Regency PMI, it is hoped that the assistance can be channeled to the target community in need.
Through the network and experience of the Tangerang Regency PMI in handling emergencies, it is hoped that assistance can be distributed quickly and accurately to the community in need.
The Jatiwaringin landfill fire incident is a reminder that environmental challenges can quickly develop into a public health issue.
