JAKARTA - Education observer Satriawan Salim strongly condemned the corruption carried out by Langkat Regent Syah Afandin who allegedly received gratification for the procurement of SD student school uniforms.
According to him, Syah Afandin's actions are very detrimental to the parents of students in the midst of increasingly expensive education costs.
"We as an educational organization and teachers strongly condemn the occurrence of corruption in clothing. Or school uniforms for elementary, junior high, and so on, this is clearly detrimental to parents of students in the midst of expensive education. Whether it's elementary or secondary education," said Satriawan, to reporters, Sunday, July 5, 2026.
Satriawan said that corruption in the world of education was still a scourge in the management of national education. He also condemned and condemned the school uniform to be corrupt.
"It turns out that those who enjoy the uniform are regional heads who take the opportunity or corruption niche from the procurement of the uniform. When the procurement of uniforms is corrupt, of course there will be an impact," he said.
According to him, the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) or the attorney general's office (Kejagung) must oversee how projects in the world of education are carried out.
"Well, I think the KPK, Kejagung, the police must really oversee it. And don't be afraid of parents reporting, because if there is corruption in the education world, how is the development of character, integrity, and honesty. Of course we will lose the compass, direction and example. The education world should be clean, but it is actually corrupted," he said.
He also urged law enforcement officials to take firm action against those who commit corruption in the education sector.
"We urge law enforcement officers to be very firm in dealing with this case. So that the very large education budget can really fulfill the rights of students and teachers to achieve quality learning," he said.
